Apex Environmental brings innovative water treatment technology to NZ

Christchurch, New Zealand. Specialist wastewater and water treatment company Apex Environmental, today announced it has entered into a distribution agreement with BioGill, a leading manufacturer of above ground bioreactors used to clean water.  Companies in New Zealand now have access to the BioGill Tower, an advanced biological technology for treating a variety of wastewaters from food & beverage processing and sewage.

Apex Environmental General Manager, Dr Steve Kroening said, “Increasing pressure from government agencies to reach higher standards, stricter regulations and tougher action on offenders are all driving significant investment in the water and wastewater treatment market across New Zealand.”

BioGill technology is based on the key premise of concentrating and maximising microbiology.  At the technology’s core is a uniquely designed nano ceramic gill that provides the ideal support media to grow microorganisms. This microbes then “consumes” organics from the wastewater stream, delivering high level reductions in BOD, COD, ammonia and total nitrogen.

“We see enormous potential for this technology in industries such as wine and craft breweries because the BioGill solution can easily scale up as site production increases. The ability to treat high nutrient load wastewater without expensive chemicals, high maintenance and extensive civil works, also makes this technology very attractive,” added Dr Kroening.

With units now operating in 17 countries, across three continents, BioGill technology has received numerous awards and accreditations from both government authorities and the private sector. Earlier this year, the Chinese Government selected BioGill as a Top 100 Environmental Technology to help address air, soil and water pollution in China.
