Introducing the BioGill GreaseEater
Sydney Water, Australia’s largest water utility, approved BioGill technology for biological treatment of grease traps in March 2015. The approval comes after several demonstration projects showed significant reductions in Fat, Oil and Grease (FOG) using BioGill technology.
With out technology the microorganisms consume the fat, oil and grease out of the waste stream and actually treat the grease, rather than simply trap the grease.
The BioGill technology is the only biological grease trap pre-treatment approved by Sydney Water. In Sydney alone, there are more than 40,000 grease traps and across the globe there are millions. Many maritime vessels too have grease traps on board.
Known as a BioGill ‘GreaseEater’ this smaller scale bioreactor is simply retrofitted to an existing grease trap. The major benefits for customers are:
- reduced maintenance costs as less FOG enters pipework; and
- significant savings in pump outs costs.
Sydney is our pilot city. The sales and marketing model developed here will be taken to other cities around the world.
