History
The BioGill technology was developed in the research laboratories of the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation, ANSTO, a Commonwealth research agency.
ANSTO is responsible for delivering specialized advice, scientific services and products to government, industry, academia, and other research organisations.
A group of research scientists from the Institute of Materials Engineering at ANSTO were involved in the ground-breaking research into the use of nano particulate materials originating from the synroc waste form technology.
Between 2004-2009, the technology was further developed and incubated within ANSTO, with a view to commercialization. In 2009 ANSTO granted exclusive rights to licence and commercialize the technology, now known as BioGill®. BioGill® Environmental Pty Limited was formed to commercialize this award winning technology.
BioGill® units have been successfully demonstrated on many different industrial wastewater streams such as effluent from food processors, breweries and wineries, as well as sewage.
Effective from the 1st of October 2021 Biogill joins the BW Water which itself is a member of the BW group of companies.
BW Water is a leading supplier of water and wastewater systems for the industrial and municipal marketplace, established in 2017 by a group of experienced and passionate professionals. BW’s passionate professionals coupled with a range of technologies help improve the environment by protecting the worlds most essential natural resource – Water.
