A major challenge for many tourist parks and resorts is how to achieve effective, affordable onsite wastewater treatment, often in remote locations. Resort wastewater also tends to have higher levels of Fats, Oils and Greases (FOGs) from the commercial kitchen, making treatment difficult for submerged biological systems.
The BioGill above ground bioreactors can effectively treat a combination of commercial kitchen wastewater, sewage water and grey water.

Learn more about BioGill Advantages
Cost effective
BioGills are modular and can be cost effectively integrated into your wastewater treatment systems. The technology is ideal too for smaller scale projects.
Low sludge output
BioGills do not create a large sludge output that is difficult and costly to dispose. The sludge that is created is usually of an environmentally friendly nature and can be a beneficial fertiliser for your resort gardens.
Effective removal of fats and oils
Commercial kitchens have a higher percentage of fats and oils in the waste stream. Whereas many other systems suffer from fouling or “mass-kill” of the biomass, BioGills can successfully treat waste streams that contain FOGs.
Effective de-nitrification
Total Nitrogen is reduced on average by 80% plus. BioGills naturally have an oxic and anoxic treatment phase converting ammonias to nitrates and then nitrates to nitrogen gas.
Low odour
Effluent movement is contained within the enclosed bioreactors. The bacteria and fungi in the biomass are extremely efficient and quick at removing the sulphides and volatile fatty acids that can create odour problems. Movement of air in and out of the BioGill is small, reducing odour spread.
Lower energy and reduced maintenance
With minimal maintenance required on the treatment cores and lower energy consumption, BioGills can reduce your operating costs.
